Interestingly when I ask about how he goes about setting up collaborations he is careful to mention he is not the type to meet someone and hand them a mix tape.

I need to meet the person a couple times like their stuff…its like if you want to be these peoples peer be their peer. It is at this point in the conversation we both stop and crack up laughing.

I ask him if this a common occurrence to which he replies yes even telling me an anecdote involving a driver next to him blasting the album completely oblivious to his presence in the other lane. Of his live show he says he is much more relaxed now about performing than when he was starting out. JMSN is unsure of what the future holds other than the fact that he will without doubt continue to create.

Of the future of White Room records, he is ambiguous in his response, particularly on the subject of him joining another major label. Be that on an indie or commercial label. JMSN is a man of contrasts. For a fiercely creative and driven artist he is supremely relaxed about many facets of he lifestyle.

At the end of our meeting, I shake his hand and thank him. He asks if we could sit a little longer to charge his phone to which I of course say yes.

I take the opportunity to pick his brain about the state of hip hop in America and the dominant radio forces like Young Thug and Travis Scott, both of whom he says he loves. A true journeymen who keeps sidestepping his own own image, JMSN navigates the music industry at will. It is, however, abundantly clear upon hearing The Blue Album that this is his most commercially appealing offering to date.
