Bugchasers—those who eroticize HIV—are a subculture of barebackers, men who have unprotected sex with other men. It is statistically rare for men to self-identify as bugchasers, and many of those who do never participate in sexual acts that can lead to HIV infection. Insect sex may seem fairly simple: fluttering dances, clasping abdomens, a quick mount on a forest floor.
