This list consists of TV and Series/Shows that have LGBTQ (mostly Gay) Couples and Storylines/Characters, no matter how long or short, big or small, which I've watched and adored over the years. The majority of TV shows feature romantic couplings in one form or another, and we've rounded up the most iconic same-sex relationships to ever hit the small screen. The past couple of decades have seen a proliferation of LGBTQ+ representation, and thankfully, many TV shows haven’t shied away from showing queer love in all of its forms.

These are in no particular order, but it is a list of my favourite homosexual couples to have been on television in the last decade or so. It premiered in on Showtime with the last episode aired in lasting a successful five seasons. Years ago I once said Brian and Justin had the best on-screen chemistry I had ever seen in the drama….

I was only ten…or eleven when I first watched the pilot episode of Queer as Folk and was introduced to gay Pittsburgh and the five male cast characters; Michael Novotny- The boy next door best friend; Emmett Honeycutt- the out-proud flamboyant queen; Ted Schmidt- the boring accountant and Brian Kinney- the narcissistic, egotistic, heterophobe that lived his life with no regrets.

The fifth was high school senior Justin Taylor. The only difference was these were gay men and women ultimately set in what was perceived as a heterosexual environment and situations. There were babies born, funerals and marriages. In the 21st Century everything changes, and Torchwood is ready. A spin-off series from Doctor Who, Torchwood follows the lives of Torchwood 3 employees and their every day encounters with aliens and whatnot from space, the past, and the future.

And heading this motley crew is Captain Jack Harkness, a time agent that can not die. An intergalactic love story — well it was till RTD pretty much said F-U to left the Doctor Who franchise taking the poor Welsh tea boy from Torchwood 3 along with him Captain Jack Harkness an omisexual 51st Century time agent and Ianto Jones his personal assistant and lover.

But it was Ianto Jones, the native Welsh tea boy who captivated Jack for three seasons of Torchwood it had something to do with the coat. Torchwood season 3 however saw Ianto leave Jack since he was unable to stay alive when poisoned and Jack watched him die. Will Ianto come back? But as Jack states he can never die, so those he loves are always left behind — that sadly included Ianto Jones. OZ, commonly known as Oswald Correctional Facility, followed the lives of prisoners on the inside, and like the cells in Emerald city that where glass, everything was exposed including male full frontal nudity.

If ever there was ever a relationship destined to fail then OZ odd couple Tobias Beecher and Chris Keller are strong contenders. This duo started their relationship on false pretence; Keller simply being a pawn to Schillinger and the Aryan brotherhood assigned to break the defences erected by Beecher and create the opportunity for Schillinger to attack — and did so — with Beecher breaking almost every bone in his body.

It was uncommon for Keller to feel remorse against his actions but Beecher was having nothing of it — and then began a dangerous cat-and-mouse game between the couple that saw many casualties and had Keller transferred to another prison. Also when Beecher was permitted parole it was Keller in his wisdom and selfish desire that manipulated Beecher into breaking parole and landing himself back into OZ. After which their cat-and-mouse game escalated to violence and suddenly death.

Was Kellers last act a declaration of his love? And in the end did Beecher albeit everything that happened in OZ, did he still love Keller? Hidden away in the mountains out of sight is Shindo, an all boys boarding school and attending this school is Gii and Takumi, two students that discover love for the first time with each other.

Now every relationship homosexual and heterosexual has angst and Hayama Takumi and Saki Giichi are no exception. Attending an all-boys boarding school isolated in the mountains there is bound to be some male x male relationships. Only to admit in the end that he does love Gii. Second movie we see Takumi jealous of a first-year named Morita when Gii asks Takumi to invite the other to a Halloween party.

Takumi over thinks and concludes that Gii must be over him and becomes self-conscious. In the third Gii has had an extreme makeover and becomes reclusive towards Takumi. Takumi then irrationally decides to break up the relationship.
